National Daiquiri Day 2023

Rather apropos of a steaming-hot 🌞Summer🐪 Hump🐫Day🔥, today happens to be National Daiquiri Day. I’ll take mine without the alcohol or the sugar, but you do you…

Wednesday

They didn’t want it good, they wanted it Wednesday. ~Robert A. Heinlein

Who am I kidding? They want it good and they want it Wednesday. That leads to a challenging workday.  Whatever. Business as usual.

It’s only natural that I’d stress about work a bit on a Wednesday, but that’s not what I’m here for.

One of the best ways to offset work-induced stress is to find some joy and focus on that (as time allows).

What gives me joy is having the most beautiful woman alive trudging around the house in her skimpy summer clothes, woo 💕 woo.

Another source of joy is my silly little pocket 🐺 wolf. Rose is such a silly doggie. I find it comical when she pokes at her toys to make them squeak.

Naturally, another source of joy for me is writing. To that end, I wrote this and I spent most of last weekend working on The Sentinels: New Blood. I’m up to Chapter 25 at this point.

Wednesday Morning Jazz – Summer Bossa Nova and Jazz Music to Relax

I’ve lost 10 of the 50 pounds my doctor recommended should go. That’s a step in the right direction.

You’d think that “nicer” weather would afford me an opportunity to get out more, but I’m really busy. It’s all I can do to get to the bathroom, much less taking any kind of a walk.

This needs to change. As much as I detest 🌞Summer🔥 weather, this is actually peak time for going outside for leisure activities. Blech…

Even so, I need to get up off the couch and walk around, for Pete’s sake. And yet, here I sit writing this instead of staggering around the neighborhood in my mentally exhausted funk.

Bah, humbug!

Something’s got to change and I could do with a bit less demand and a bit more free time in the evening to get out for a stroll.

Tomorrow

An artist’s career always begins tomorrow. ~James Whistler

Tomorrow is that perpetually moving target that cannot possibly be reached. As soon as midnight strikes, it’s suddenly today.

That’s got interesting implications if you’re writing a time travel sci-fi story, but it’s got some upsetting ramifications for those of us trying to get something done.

Yes, I can block out time to write. I can schedule time to edit. I can scrimp and save to pay for a block of ISBN’s, hire a professional editor, set up a print run, buy ads and whatever other bits of nickel and diming are required to distribute the work.

All these things can be done, but it’s all booked for tomorrow. Tomorrow I’ll have time to write and edit. Tomorrow, I’ll get paid so I can shuffle some pennies into the piggy bank for the aforementioned business expenses. Tomorrow, I’ll have time to go back to school and take a course on how to run a publishing business.

Tomorrow…

Well, I’m 56 and there are only so many tomorrows available for all this to occur. That’s sobering, dismaying and annoying.

I’ve got a lot of projects in mind, but I’ll be even older and greyer before any of it comes to fruition. Annoying…

Okay, it’s only halfway through the week and I’m totally shagged out. More sleep required 🛌🏻😴💤…
