National Greasy Foods Day 2025
A perfect celebration for a late October Saturday is National Greasy Foods Day, because why worry about 🎃 Halloween 👻 candy 🍬 when you can jack up your cholesterol instead?
🍟 Guilty 🍤 Pleasure 🥓🍔
When I hear ‘guilty pleasure’, like once in a while I’ll sneak off for a Popeyes run. And I’ll just gorge on Popeyes fried chicken. ~Chef John Mitzewich
As it happens, the same can be said for Allan.
My boy loves those Popeye’s runs.
For me, I’d say my first go-to is Arby’s.
I was always fond of Burger King, but in the last decade or two I’ve trended toward Arby’s.
Ultimately, there’s something deeply satisfying about decadent, greasy treats.
Sizzling sausage and bacon, juicy burgers and crispy fries, the options are endless.
We love to have stuff dripping in succulent juices such as butter, au jus or simply the fatty content of the meat itself.
Every moment of savory joy is paid for in years of cholesterol testing.
The point of today is to have a little cheat day now and again.
Everything in moderation, as they say.

National Greasy Foods Day (October 25), Activities and How to celebrate National Greasy Foods Day
There are ways around it, but if you’re having an infrequent cheat day…
It depends on your goal. If you want to have a cheat day, have a cheat day.
If you want to enjoy the most decadent flavors you can get your hands on as often as possible, then you’ll lean into the mocktail version of greasy foods.
Alternative oils, leaner cuts, longer marinades to emulate that sense of wallowing in the frying pan with your favorite greasy treats.
There are countless healthier alternatives to greasy treats like fried chicken, fish & chips, ribs, steaks, burgers and the like.
As I mentioned above, moderation is the key.
If you want to have the occasional treat, go old school.
If you want that comfort food vibe week after week, lean into the clever alternatives available on the recipe sites.
If you want deep-fried gristle with a side of pork rinds followed by funnel cake that you have to mop up after, invest in an extra-large coffin because you won’t be around much longer.
This is one of those scenarios where you literally can have too much of a good thing.
Be careful out there, people. It’s just food. Have a celery stick or a salad or something. Wow…

🥓 Absolutely 🍔🍟 Satisfying 🍤
I can completely lose myself into just absolutely satisfying things — a really amazing cheeseburger, a pizza, good fries, a beer… I enjoy being comfortable and eating whatever the hell I like. ~Channing Tatum
That’s it in a nutshell.
People like to be comfortable and eat whatever the hell they like.
Amen, brother.
Comfortable is awesome.
Eating whatever the hell you like is still in need of moderation.
You know what else is comfortable? Having my damn PC working again.
Wow, what a tremendous two-week pain in the ever-lovin’ caboose.
Finally, I can get back on track with the good people of Pine Hollow and get this thing done before 🦃 Thanksgiving Day 🥧 this year.
I’m not sure what greasy treat I’m going to indulge in today, but it’s just today. I do try to eat well.
If variety is the spice of life, variety with appropriate moderation is the Pumpkin 🎃 Spice of life.
That’s all for today. See you back on Wednesday for 🥣 oatmeal…
