Opportunity To Do More

My boss approved my PTO schedule, so I’m in good shape to start allocating more time and effort to personal projects.

Reward

The reward for work well done is the opportunity to do more. ~Jonas Salk

You know that’s right! The more I do, the more they want. Well, it’s nice to be valued.

Be that as it may, I’ve gotten approval for Project: No More Mondays. My unused PTO days have allowed me to schedule off every Monday in November and December.

Huzzah!

That just means that I’ll have to do five days’ worth of work in four each week. Whatever. Having an abundance of work is better than facing layoff due to a shortage.

Be that as it may, having a long weekend every week for the entirety of November and December is going to be ridiculously awesome.

I’ve got plenty of project work to attend to with this reclaimed time. Let’s see how much I can get done with this extra day of me-time each week.

Superhero Movie Tropes, Explained

As much as I have been obsessed with fantasy worldbuilding lately, I need to stay on track.

The Sentinels need to come to front-of-mind and, since the Holiday Season Serial Romance take place in the Sentinelsverse, get my head back into the current genre.

There are only so many hours in any day, whether that’s a job-day or a me-day. I’ve been giving way too much time to a future project when the current ones aren’t getting done.

Time management has never been my strong suit. I am an arch-procrastinator but knowing and acknowledging it is a step toward fixing it.

Yeah, 🎃 right.

If I haven’t fixed it by now, it’s not likely to change any time soon.

Even so, I do have a hard deadline and even less time to get the story that I have no idea what it’s about done in time.

Higher Than The 💜

In art, the hand can never execute anything higher than the heart can imagine. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Well, I don’t know about “higher than the heart can imagine” but I’m having a really hard time imagining anything at all.

It’s been code, code, code, all day, every day. The only thing I can imagine is how to make software do whatever the clients asked me last. Switching gears has become increasingly difficult.

All the same, I’ve worked on all of this subconsciously and it’s way down deep, simmering and brewing up something awesome.

Honestly, I have no doubt in my ability to do this. I can actually do all of the above.

I can take seemingly impossible customer requests and turn them into functional realities with a minimal amount of fairly simple code. I can do that all day long. I already do.

I can invent people from absolutely nothing and have them do interesting things for people’s reading pleasure. I’ve done that already.

What I can‘t seem to do is summon up enough energy and concentration to get it all done in a timely fashion.

😴 I’m so freaking tired all the time. 😴

Not as badly as I was before I added B12 to my daily pill collection, but still too tired to do all of the things I’ve set out to do.

With any luck, grabbing back a day out of each week will help me to get caught up on my writing projects. I guess we’ll see…

I wish you a happy weekend!
