Spring Forward

I slept through the daylight savings thing, but this week is another fast forward of sorts.

Not This Weekend

I had my consultation with the gastroenterological staff this week. I was hoping that would mean that the procedure would be this weekend but it won’t be until mid-April. Gah! The waiting is half the trauma. Good googly-moogly! I just want it to be over already…

As for the inflamed tissue around my ribs… Gah! I’ve messaged the doctor to see if he wants to boost the dosage of the medication at this point or not. I’m not seeing a marked improvement in symptoms and now that it’s warmer out, the wife is compiling a Honey-Do list of items that are sure to be egregiously painful.

Beat Sheet

I’ve seen a variety of videos and articles on Blake Snyder‘s 15 beats for screenwriting. I thought I’d give it a try.

It’s given me a potential plot line for my first Sentinels book. I’ll be having a go at the “plotser” style instead of pantsing as usual.

Pantsing comes naturally, but it all too frequently leads me down dead ends that require way too much backtracking and retooling. We’ll see if this technique helps me to stay on track and git ‘er done.

Surprise?

Art must take reality by surprise. ~Francoise Sagan

It’s a superhero series. People have a notion of what’s going to happen. There are good guys. There are bad guys. Somebody’s gonna get punched through a wall or something. That’s what happens in superhero stories. Right?

Well, I guess we’ll see if I’m able to bring something new to the genre.

The characters aren’t based on any DC, Marvel or independent comics, so there’s a surprise anyway. I’m pretty sure that my characters don’t fit into any knock-off categories. They’re going to be doing things that the usual four-color heroes don’t.

That’s the news for today. Gotta get back to my writing. Hope you’re enjoying the lovely Spring weather and being super-productive, too.
