Winter Storm Warning 2020

Thank goodness the 21st Century has finally caught up to me. I get to work from home in my jammies…

Home Sweet Home

Home is the nicest word there is. ~Laura Ingalls Wilder

I agree entirely. There’s no place like home for the holidays or any other time.

Sure, I’d like to travel. I’ve been some interesting places that I’d like to return and see more of. There are plenty of places that I’d like to see in person eventually.

For the time being, particularly in the middle of a 🌨️ snow ❄️ storm ☃️, I’m perfectly content to migrate between the bed, the sofa and the fridge on a regular basis. Everything I need is conveniently contained within my 4 walls and that will do for now.

I can work from home. I can write my stories at home. I can eat, sleep, etc. at home.

ITS FREAKING FABULOUS!

It wasn’t so convenient at some of my previous employers. The technology was there but not the desire. Now, I work for people who found out the hard way that working remotely is as awesome as we hoped it would be.

No Place Like Home

[There’s No Place Like] Home For The Holidays

At the holidays, I really, really, really like to be home and snuggled up with the wife and doggy.

Wrapping my arm around her and a blanket across our laps where Rose can nestle in and make herself comfy (as only a Pocket 🐺 Wolf can) is one of those seasonal treats I look forward to almost as much as plum pudding, egg nog, Christmas cookies, Rankin & Bass TV specials, various versions of Scrooge (🎼even the musical one🎶) as well as all the funny Christmas movies that we love to see year after year.

The holidays are a great time to wind down from a busy year and start making plans for the year to come.

Priorities

The whole point of getting things done is knowing what to leave undone. ~Oswald Chambers

Some things can wait. They just can.

Some people like to control everything. Those same people get all stressed out when they can’t get anything done because they’re trying to do EVERYTHING at the same time.

That’s why I like using Remember the Milk. I can categorize, prioritize, schedule and tick off tasks as I complete them. It has an app for my phone so that my schedule pops up and lets me know what I’m supposed to do next.

However you remain organized, it’s best if you do. If you can create a system for yourself that works, you’ll find that your sense of accomplishment is a lot more concrete than if you just white tornado your way through a random bunch of activities.

For now, my priorities are to get my to-do list at work winnowed down to a bare minimum while keeping up with my Holiday Season Serial Romance and still maintaining something vaguely passing for a work/life balance.

We’re midway through the week and we’ve still got plenty to do. I hope you’re getting all of your important to-do items checked off so you can enjoy the weekend.
