What’s Cookin’?!?
It’s almost Christmas and we’re all about the food this time of year! I’ve gotta get the rest of those Christmas cookies done and there’s Chinese food that needs to be taken to Christmas at the In-Laws.
Hey, Good-Lookin’
Well, I’ve finished the first couple of days of transitional light duty. Surprisingly, as little as I’ve had to actually do there, my ribs decided to remind me that they’re not nearly as healed as I thought they were. Clearly, I’m not ready for factory duty yet. I’m wondering if I ever will be.
Chef Glenn and the crew at The Gathering Grounds are a pleasure to work with.
Lock It Down
I’ve been adding SSL certificates to my sites as time allows. I haven’t been ranking for anything on any of my sites since Google decided to require SSL in order to get on the rankings. At least some of my articles are finally starting to show up on Google searches.
I have 9 more Christmas Dailies left for this holiday season. Since I decided on a theme of Benjamin Franklin’s 13 Virtues, it’s been easier to come up with ideas for the posts so I can get them done. Keeping it simple and straightforward is always the best way to get things done.
As for deciding on 2019’s resolutions, I don’t quite know where to start since I never completed 2018’s resolutions. Do I just roll them over to next year or do I pick different ones entirely? New Year’s isn’t until next week, so I’ll focus on getting the Christmas Dailies done and worry about next year next week.
What To Leave Out
Every act of creation is first an act of destruction. ~Pablo Picasso
May seem counter-intuitive, but it’s absolutely true. In order to create something, you have to decide what it is NOT going to be. In the case of something like a painting or a sculpture, it’s literally true that you’re destroying in order to create. You’re chipping away at a rock in order to reveal a sculpture. You’re defacing a perfectly clean canvas in order to create a painting. You’re bypassing entire worlds of possibility to tell a story.
By telling the story of The Sentinels, I’m not writing a medieval fantasy nor a high tech space opera. I have side-stepped entire genres. I have set aside notions of cursed magic swords or interstellar commerce and warfare. I have created by destroying the unrelated storylines in my head.
That’s all for today. As I said, I have 9 more Christmas Dailies to go before I can return to other needful projects. Clock’s tickin’, dude…
