Minding My Own Business Saturday

It’s Small Business Saturday and I’m focusing on my own business rather than shopping.

Holiday Weekend

I have been working feverishly to complete A Misfit Christmas, so I’m up for a bit of a break. Thanksgiving weekend is an excellent opportunity to kick back and focus on living in gratitude for a couple of days. I haven’t given myself a proper weekend off in quite some time.

Hopefully, taking a break from doing will start sparking some ideas for the next round. Naturally, I have to continue setting up the serial episodes of A Misfit Christmas, but I need to get back to work on my existing sites and projects. If I can crank out 4 or 5 episodes a day, I’ll have the whole thing set up in about a week.

I need to start working on a book cover for the KDP novella and the Large Print version. The story will be published in Kindle e-Reader, 6×9 and 6×9 Large Print versions after the daily serial has finished its run. I’d like to make some more puzzle books for the Christmas All The Time brand as well.

I need to work on the articles for the Sentinels promotional site. There are some cross-links that I can establish from A Misfit Christmas because Mary Christmas turns up on December 15th.

I’ve got some other sites that need attention but they can wait until current projects are sorted out. For now, it’s a lovely weekend off and a bit of maintenance work on existing projects.

My Kids’ Favorite Xmas Special

Arthurs Perfect Christmas
(Full Movie)

This is a holiday must-have for Emmeline and Connor. Dorothy likes the various versions of The Grinch while Allan prefers Ernest movies. I enjoy most holiday movies, but I lean toward most versions of A Christmas Carol.

Swimming Against The Yuletide

It is now common knowledge that the average American gains 7 pounds between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day. ~Marilu Henner

After more than 15 months of limited activity, I’m a good bit heavier than I need to be. Clothes are tighter than they ought to be. So, in keeping with my typically contrarian nature, I will be working on losing weight throughout the holiday season rather than gaining the aforementioned 7 pounds.

Normally, I’d get another one of those miserable factory or warehouse jobs in order to burn off the calories, but it’s anything but normal.

What I’ve found is that simply walking around a store with Kelly for half an hour and then driving home is pretty much enough to make me take a nap. Walking around the neighborhood loop (approximately a mile) often leaves me with the sensation that I’ve just been whipped across the chest with a piece of rebar.

Stretching and twisting are generally on the no-no list. It would be phenomenal to be able to engage in a reasonably strenuous exercise regimen. Unfortunately, that’s not in the cards right now.

Eating less is iffy. If you skip meals, your body goes into starvation mode and doesn’t eat the stores of body fat (of which I have a tragic excess) as you’d expect it to. Eating smaller portions, while recommended, just makes you more hungry than not eating at all.

Intermittent fasting is a possibility, but I’d have to keep myself really busy and I’d have to stop drinking sugary coffee and tea. My chance of reaching ketosis during the holiday season is fairly infinitesimal.

I’ll just have to start slow and find some exercises that don’t hurt. That’s a tall order because EVERYTHING hurts. When I figure something out, I’ll let you know. Something has to work because I’ve been inactive for entirely too long. Bah, humbug!

I have to get back to doing essentially nothing for the biggest shopping weekend of the year. I will have done more stuff when I get here on Wednesday. 👍
