New Dojo

Today was moving day for Connor and Allan’s dojo in Tamaqua. There was a big crew getting things moved, which made the work go quickly.

New Location

USA Martial Arts & Fitness has a new home. After 28 years, the dojo has moved to a new location a block or so down the street. The facilities look fantastic. There’s a bigger bathroom, a black belt lounge and a lot of nice features that Mr. Bonner will be working on over the next week or so.

Supermemes

The entire MCU except it’s just the memes

I’m rather envious of the insane amount of planning that went into the MCU. Naturally, they had the advantage of drawing from a half-century of published comics.

Even so, the bits that they took to weave together into a coherent cinematic universe demonstrates a masterful command of storytelling.

Their ability to include easter eggs that lead to movies that are years down the line is absolutely astonishing. Again, they have the advantage of having an extensive body of work to draw from.

Even so, the choices are as admirable as they are amazing. I’d really like to have that kind of long-plot cohesion.

Fictionality

No great artist ever sees things as they really are. If he did, he would cease to be an artist. ~Oscar Wilde

A friend of mine has no regard whatsoever for fiction. Biographies, true crimes and history are his meat and potatoes. He has no interest in anything unreal. I suppose his vice grip on reality is what makes him excellent at his job, but I’ve got to be honest. I can’t even comprehend that point of view.

The what-ifs of life are tremendously interesting to me. I’ve always been absorbed by anything even vaguely unreal. Mystery solving teens and their talking dog. Giant aliens who have MMA fights with kaiju in urban centers. Upgraded WWII Japanese battleships saving humanity from genocidal alien villains. Reality is just dull to me. It’s like the Kansas parts of The Wizard of Oz.

Sorry if you can’t relate but mundane reality is unbearably tedious to me. That’s just who I am.

That’s Saturday for you. I hope yours was productive, too!
