I’m All Ears

I snapped that picture of Rose while she was napping. She’s growing daily but she’s still a little teacup pup for the time being.

Miles To Go

Connor is coming home to play with the puppy and to assist with the final board breaking seminar at USA Martial Arts in Tamaqua at their current location. They’re moving up the street this weekend to set up for classes in March. Connor will be back to help with that as well.

It’s a bit of running around, but it’s good that he’s staying involved. No point in letting dust collect on that instructor’s belt he earned!

Rose loves to burn around the house like a crazy thing. Puppies have a natural exuberance and an amusing lack of traction on linoleum kitchen floors. She’s building up leg strength so she can hop up on the sofa or ottoman. She’s not ready yet, but she’s getting there.

In the meantime, I recognize the signal and will happily pick her up to sit with me on the sofa even if it means she’s going to scale my shirt and try to nibble on my beard.

How can you possibly say no to a face like that?

I’ve Half-Expecting This To Happen

Dumbo (2019) – Dumbo Flies Scene

Rose’s ears are so big and floppy, I’m actually expecting her to start flying around the house before long. She’s full of energy between naps. We’ll see if she grows into those ears or learns how to flap them. The cats won’t get a minute’s peace if she does.

Leif is surprisingly tolerant of her nudging and space invasion. Lysander, who I call Mr. Love, has been disappointingly hostile toward her. Larkin is generally evasive and has had mixed reactions to this little ball of energy. Only time will tell how they all wind up getting along.

POV Motivation

Great dancers are not great because of their technique, they are great because of their passion. ~Martha Graham

So, telling the story of the Sentinels’ new member from a rotation of viewpoint characters has been paying off. I’ve been cranking out at least 3000 words each day.

My most productive time is in the late evening to overnight hours. Sometimes, it is not practical to stay up late so I start right after supper.

For whatever reason, writing in the daytime just doesn’t work for me. I’ll have to move past that if I want to get more words on the page. Daytime seems more conducive to research, errands and ancillary tasks.

For the time being, rational stuff belongs to the daylight and creative stuff belongs to the night. Perhaps that’s why they call it the Witching Hour. Seems appropriate, given The Conclave’s method of extending their lifespans.

With color one obtains an energy that seems to stem from witchcraft. ~Henri Matisse

That’s the latest for this peak of the week. The characters are in a giving mood, so I have to keep typing.
