Frigid April
Old Man Winter has been hanging around the last couple of days. It sort of wants to be Spring but can’t quite get there.
Just STFU
Better remain silent, better not even think, if you are not prepared to act. ~Annie Besant
There are mechanisms of civilization that, while dusty from disuse, are still available to us in lieu of actions that will exacerbate the situation we find ourselves in.
The problem is that we’ve been busy living our lives for the last few decades. The powers that be vote themselves raises, curtail freedoms inches and feet at a time. These things all happen in a vacuum. In most cases, they’re televised or at least publicized. The thing is, it’s all done in a camouflage of tedium.
They do this stuff in such a ponderous, officious and soul-suckingly boring way that you can’t possibly get to the irritating bits without sitting through the mind-numbing bullshit that they pad it with.
Thing is, the sun keeps rising. We go to work. We buy our groceries and whatever other oddments we choose to spend our money on. We go on with our lives in something passing for normal.
Until now.
We saw the reason for social distancing and closing down hotspots that might lead to the virulent spread of a potentially lethal disease. It seemed like a good idea.
Until it didn’t.
If the thing only lasts 2 weeks and we all stayed home for 4-8, then it’s all good. Time to start wandering back outside. Time to get back to work. Time to get back to normal.
But overreaching officials just love all this power that they’ve claimed for themselves.
It’s very much time that we start taking a serious look at all the sweet little treats they have been giving themselves for so many years now. Some people are so overwhelmed with cabin fever that they want to go to extremes.
As I said, we have mechanisms that already exist.
If we can avoid the problem of uptight malcontents trying to reenact Kent State, there are avenues of approach. Overstepping needs to be addressed. Driving people to the brink of financial disaster needs to be addressed. Pulling a fast one with public funds for decades on end needs to be addressed.
It’s going to be a big Summer for lawyers and activist politicians.
We need to find out who our representatives are and insist, strenuously, that they begin representing us instead of simply riding the bureaucratic merry-go-round and grabbing the occasional brass ring.
The free ride is over, folks.

Jungle Survival: Build Grass Roof Hobbit House by Ancient Skills
If you’re running out of things to watch and you’re not desperate enough to actually consider reading (perish the thought), take a look at the video above and then click through to their channel. These guys are ludicrously creative with their little houses. Sometimes, they’re above ground like the hobbit house. Sometimes, they dig a hole in the ground and turn it into a sunken palace. It’s really amazing.
If you’re not into reading, I can’t imagine how you wound up here or how you got this far.
I, however, am into writing. I haven’t been as productive as I’d hoped but I’ve been extremely tired. I don’t know why that is. I’ve been getting plenty of sleep and I still have my Vitamin D3 to supplement my daily regimen of life-sustaining pills and medically necessary socks so, why so lethargic?
No Idea
I really have no idea why I’ve been so tired lately but it’s beginning to irk me.
I can’t get anything done if I’m asleep. It’s not getting the story written and I’m not even catching up on my bingeworthy Netflix series.
Add to that the fact that I’ve come to my inevitable ¾ hurdle. It’s one of those things I’ve become accustomed to.
This time, however, I cannot and will not let it stifle me. It’s a byproduct of not planning things out. Pantsing will only get me so far.
The gangsters did something so dreadful that it cannot go unanswered. However, as superheroes, they can’t stoop to the gangsters’ level. It’s causing quite a stir among the Sentinels because most of them are just as happy to ‘go dark‘ in response.
I’ve got to put my thinking cap on and have a chat with the comics maven who is my elder son.
That’s the sum of it for the weekend. I hope you’re getting on well in the ongoing tedium.
