National Toasted Marshmallow Day 2023

Just in time for campfire season, it’s National Toasted Marshmallow Day.

Dead πŸ”‹ Battery

Thinking: the talking of the soul with itself. ~Plato

In a rare burst of focus, I’ve been ripping through some stuff that’s been languishing.

Results? Stuff got done and I got zombified. Mental battery was below 13% and shutdown was imminent.

Whatever. At least stuff is getting done. Well, stuff at work, that is.

I had meant to get started on Carol’s Christmas, but you can’t do that when you’re on the verge of a coma.

Today is not a Hump πŸͺ Day for me, it’s a Slump πŸ‘ŽπŸ» Day.

But Can You Toast πŸ”₯ Them?

SUGAR-FREE MARSHMALLOWS | easy to make and keto friendly!

Color me skeptical, but I’m not sure these things will toast like regular marshmallows. I’ll have to see if they’ve got some for sale somewhere and give it a try.

Really looking forward to firepit season with Kelly. Maybe after the wedding, we’ll have the right combination of temperatures, cessation of rainfall, hibernation of bugs and actually having enough energy in the evenings to actually sit out back and toast up some hot dogs and marshmallows.

I’m not an outdoorsy person, but I do like enjoying a little campfire in the dark with my wife. Hopefully, conditions will soon make that a possibility.

Truth πŸ’£ Bombs

We have art in order not to die of the truth. ~Friedrich Nietzsche

That’s part of what’s missing from my current draft of The Sentinels: New Blood. There’s something about our favorite superheroes that speaks to a basic human truth.

Spider-Man is a geeky kid who everyone picks on. He suddenly gets superpowers and has to balance his daily life with his self-appointed crime-fighting career. He’s not a Mary Sue. He’s got plenty of flaws that get him into some interesting jams.

I’m trying to set my characters up with some interesting personal issues to tangle with their superhero activities. I’m not sure I’ve arrived at that just yet.

I need to balance the actual plot and beats of the story with the internal struggles that weigh them down.

I also need to take advantage of having gotten my monthlies done early so I can get the heck on with Carol’s Christmas.

Gah! So much to do, so littleΒ πŸ”‹ energy to do it…

That’s it for today. I just don’t have the bandwidth to be profound during the week. Hope you’re feeling more energetic πŸ₯± than I am.
