Another Six Weeks
Shadow or no, there will always be another six weeks of ❄️ winter ❄️ before the equinox rolls around. It’s a dodge, folks. Sometimes it warms up early and feels like 💐 spring 🌷, but it ain’t over ’til it’s over…
Equinox Is Coming…
If Winter comes, can Spring be far behind? ~Percy Bysshe Shelley, Ode to the West Wind (1820)
The importance of the groundhog is not whether he will predict an “early spring” but rather that he signposts the home stretch of my second-favorite season.
Depending on your location, it could range from dreary to deeply buried in alternate ❄️ states 🧊 of water. ☃️
To those who don’t enjoy that: it’s soon over.
To those who do: enjoy it while it lasts.

Old Man’s Friend
Winter is an old man’s friend. ~Henry David Thoreau, Winter, journal entry (1853)
I’ve been saying it for weeks now. Thoreau said it most succinctly.
The great thing about winter is that I’ve got a perfect excuse to stay inside and keep writing.
And so, I have.
I mentioned previously that I’ve elected to subdivide my back-breaking tomes into more market-standard volumes.
The Sentinels: New Blood has 47 chapters, 328 pages, 150,793 words in total, while The Sentinels: Price of Engagement currently has 30 chapters completed, 209 pages, 96,699 words so far.
Yeah, I’m on a mission. Whatcha gonna do?
That’s all for today. See you back on Saturday for Stone Soup…
