April Showers

It’s a lovely Saturday afternoon. Yesterday was pouring down rain and it’s supposed to be bucketing again tomorrow night.

I really can’t wait for the flowers to pop up all over the place.

I mean, I 💙 do 💙 love wintertime.

 I ❄️ love ❄️ it! 

I also enjoy the colorful splendor of spring flowers that erupts in the wake of the bleak beauty of winter. The trees are slowly budding and the grass is springing happily back to life.

Picasso

I was never really a fan of modern art, but I can understand where it came from. Pablo Picasso lived through the ugliness of the Spanish Civil War and he found a way to express the ugliness of what was inflicted on the Spanish people.

His other works seem weird because there are women with three eyes, but this was to express both the frontal and profile view at the same time. It’s an interesting thought experiment, I suppose, but I prefer representational art even if the subject matter is unpleasant.

For me, some art is better than others. I prefer photorealistic art but I don’t mind certain impressionist works.

My intention is not to create art that somehow reflects the ugliness I see in the world around me but rather than envisions a less ugly “what if” scenario.

I’d rather engage in speculative art that’s creative than symbolic art that’s wallowing. It’s not how I operate.

Maybe I’ll get to that stage if things in this world get even worse than they are today. I hope not. For all our sakes, I certainly hope not.

Getting Organized

So, I’ve been learning to use Scrivener to organize and write my Sentinels series. It’s also useful for planning blogs. I’ve got Christmas All The Time structured through 2025 using this marvelous tool.

It comes with a variety of compile options right out of the box. You can publish right to eBook, ePub or manuscript for paperback printing. I’m just getting started with it, so we’ll see which of the bells and whistles come in most handy as I go along.

I got some errands run this morning. The meatloaf, potatoes and corn are in the oven. This evening is for writing!
