April’s Over

It’s the last day of April and we’ve got some places to go. As much as I detest going out, needs must. Going to be a busy day, so I’m keeping this short.

Good In Theory

For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple, and wrong. ~H. L. Mencken

What I do at my day job is fairly complex, but it is generally repeatable.

We’ve been working to automate the repeatable parts in order to save time on redundant processes.

Well, that’s all good in theory but it takes a moment to develop software.

I don’t really have a moment. We’re busy.

That’s good, of course.

It is, however, a factor in getting anything done in a timely fashion.

There’s always something taking priority over something else that’s just as important.

I could work weekends and evenings to make up the difference. I have done so in many cases.

Unfortunately, this hastens the onset of burnout and nobody wants that.

Fortunately, in a strange sort of way, my perpetual exhaustion prevents me from getting to a threshold of burnout.

As much as I might want to keep at something outside of usual business hours, I find myself getting run down.

This causes me to run out of time and energy for non-job tasks and projects, which is just as problematic.

I have hard deadlines for me stuff just as I do for job tasks.

The simple answer is: Do what you can, while you can and keep at it until it all gets done.

Science!

It’s Reality! Scientist’s FINALLY Discovered First Ever White Hole!

While the current Administration is doing their level best to break the country and the world at large, there are plenty of people who continue doing what they feel called to do in spite of it.

Scientists are still making dramatic discoveries. Some have practical application. Some are purely for the sake of satisfying curiosity.

Not everyone is drawn to huge cosmological phenomena like White Holes.

Some people just want to figure out how something was done.

Personally, I think it’s cool when people figure out how to DIY things like the recipe for Oreos. So, I found you this bit of food archaeology to enjoy.

Inspiration

You can’t wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club. ~Jack London

I don’t know about chasing inspiration with a club so much as chasing the gremlin that ate my story restart.

As I mentioned above, I’ve been so busy at my day job that I rarely have time or energy to get back to writing.

It’s not for a lack of desire to do so or even a lack of inspiration.

It’s a lack of time and energy.

That is all…

That is all for today and all for April 2022. I hope you’re having a lovely weekend. I’m having a lovely not-Spring 💐Spring🌷. It’s been like ❄️ Winterlite ❄️ and I’m all for it.
