Lovely Summer Day

It’s going to be one of those days, I think.

Still Not Better

All of the tests came back either normal or not far enough off of standard to require a change in care. Even so, it’s getting to where it hurts just breathing.

I’m driving down the road or sitting on the couch watching TV and it hurts like somebody is whacking on my chest with a hammer and chisel.

Costochondritis isn’t supposed to last 9+ months but here it is.

Errands

I’ve got a bunch of running around to do today. That’s fine. At least the AC in my van works better than it does for these guys in the video.

I’ve also got some chores to attend to on my Christmas site. My Christmas in July post is quickly coming due and there is some housekeeping associated with the YouTube channel and related articles.

I’ve been ripping through First Quest again so I can fully enjoy the second book in the series, The Forgotten. I’m on Chapter 16 of 26 and it’s such an amazing story. Enola really developed this milieu and her characters are so brilliant. It’s really fun to watch her turn fantasy/fairy tale tropes on their head and still move the story forward at a steady pace.

Material Of Pain

What marks the artist is his power to shape the material of pain we all have. ~Lionel Trilling

They say it’s the conflict that drives a story and that there’s nothing more boring than a bunch of characters agreeing with each other.

That being said, the Sentinels are actually friends on a mission to change their society. There are some changes coming throughout the series but, for the most part, the Sentinels will always be friends and will generally be on the same page as far as their mission is concerned.

As for the villains, all of the dramatic infighting and back-biting is well represented in the Conclave. One of the hallmarks of villains is their inability to play well with others.

I reworked the chapter on Deke’s protective custody so I could work in some of the action that he was unaware of. He may be hiding in relative comfort but one of the members of the Conclave wants him dead. The Cockroaches have been dispatched to see that he dies.

That’s all for now. I hope you’re enjoying your summertime. I can’t wait for it to be over…
