National Shrimp Day 2023
We already had Scampi Day, but today’s about shrimp in general. For National 🦐 Shrimp 🍤 Day, we can dive into some other varieties of this tasty little crustacean.

A quarter century ago, a genuinely wonderful person entered this world.
He has always been a joyous person and a determined achiever. I couldn’t be more proud of him.
He recently earned his Fourth Degree Black Belt and will be heading off to Graduate School this 🍂Autumn🍂.
He does his best to keep fit, but it must be said he certainly enjoys a bit of birthday cake.

Something else that Connor and I both enjoy is a nice variety of shrimp.
Whether it’s broiled, boiled, breaded or added to a sauce, neither of us would hesitate to have a heaping helping of these tasty little creatures.
I don’t know about Connor, but I’ve never been a fan of Shrimp Cocktail. Eating it cold, dipped in sauce doesn’t really do it for me.
Some people think it’s rather elegant, but I haven’t developed a taste for it.
I like my shrimp anywhere from warm to hot. From as basic as a garlic butter broil to a tongue torturing Tamil recipe, I prefer mine heated up.
Making A Scene

It’s been said that a scene is whatever happens in a given place. As soon as the characters traverse a door or take an unsupervised leap to somewhere entirely else, it’s said that this is a scene break.
Also, when you change perspective, regardless of location, this is considered a scene break.
At the core of narrative, these are as good an encapsulation of scene as any.
However, a well-crafted scene has more than a fixed location, a group moving in tandem or a jump to some other character’s perspective to it.
As these good ladies will elucidate, scenes in modern prose should have a goal and a structure that supports that goal.

Typically, including a scene in a story is meant to share some information that can’t be assumed and is somehow important to the overall plot.
You find this most in detective fiction. The protagonist detective might be seen to be doddering about, asking irrelevant questions. When it comes time to sum up the mystery and explain the path of deduction, the apparently random scenes are suddenly wrapped up into a coherent package.
It’s something that doesn’t come naturally to pantsers. We generally record extensive narratives and struggle to prune them down to the essentials of the current story. It’s inefficient, but it’s hard to stop doing what comes naturally.
