Second Day Of Christmas 2021

Contrary to marketing hype, the 12 Days of Christmas are the twelve days from Christmas Day to the day before Epiphany, not the 12 shopping days before Christmas…

Lovingkindness aka חֶסֶד (chesed)

Kindness in words creates confidence. Kindness in thinking creates profoundness. Kindness in giving creates love. ~Lao Tzu

I wrote about this in my Advent Sunday series on Christmas All The Time back in 2018. We’re encouraged to emulate the love that God has for us all by loving each other in like measure. I don’t think that’s such a bad idea.

You know what is a bad idea? Using money we don’t have to give to other countries and to institutions that are closed instead of giving it to American 🇺🇸 citizens and American 🇺🇸 businesses that are closed but should not be:
👉🏻 A COVID19 relief bill should serve the purpose of relieving the harm done by the Kung Flu in this country
👉🏻 The omnibus spending bill to keep the ridiculously irresponsible government open should focus exclusively on doing only that. The Post Office, the military and other federal agencies who actually do something productive should be funded to continue doing so. As for the bureaucrats who continue to obstruct anything vaguely passing for common sense and the overpaid windbags they work for, frankly, it’s time for the elected officials and all of their detestable minions to go the fuck home and try living without a paycheck like all the people they’ve been screwing over all year long
👉🏻 Term limits for Congress, ASAP

I’ve pretty well had it with all the creeps in government and the despicable little roaches in Big Tech and the media who help them obfuscate their despicable actions.

But Rob, you started off talking about lovingkindness…

Yeah, I’d ❤️ love 💚 to see them all in jail or unemployed with no prospect of future employment as anything better than a dishwasher or dollar store clerk. I’d 💚 love ❤️ to see them suffer the consequences they’ve been dishing out to others. I’d ❤️ love 💚 to see them get their comeuppance.

As for real people who actually have souls, I have a lot of love for people who just want to live their lives and mind their own business and do their own thing. I like people who live and let live.

Thing is, there are people who do things I don’t agree with. There are plenty of people who don’t agree with the things I do or believe.

It used to be okay for us to agree to disagree. It used to be okay for some people to like this and other people to like that. We could be country music fans, rap music fans, rock music fans or folk music fans. There were some who liked all of the above. There were some who liked a couple but not the other. It was still good all around.

It has changed.

Actually, no, it hasn’t. They just want us to think it has.

They want us to think there’s one right way to do anything and everything. Most of all, they want to tell us what’s right and what’s wrong. The biggest problem with that is, they don’t fucking know. They’re just making it up as they go along, the bastards. That’s why everything in society has moving goalposts anymore. They want us to believe that everything is fluid so that they can erase history, morality, science and rationality.

Fuckem all, right in the fuckin ear!

That’s my charitable Christmas attitude for them. I thought my fight against ommunism would end when the Soviet Union collapsed under the weight of the sort of bureaucratic incompetence we’re seeing in DC and various state capitols across this country.

Clearly, I couldnt get that lucky.

The Twelve Days Of Christmas

Another of the moving target, new reality pieces of crap that drives me up the wall is the whole “12 Days” nonsense. 12 Days of this, 12 Days of that but it’s all before Christmas.

No, no, no!!!

I so completely don’t go for that. Some things are right and some things are wrong. Calling the 12 shopping days before Christmas the ’12 Days of Christmas’ is not only inaccurate but it’s infuriating. Why can’t things be what they are?

Everybody knows that the day after Christmas is just as profitable (if not more so) as the day before Christmas. On Christmas Eve, you’ve got a lot of procrastinating idiots panic shopping. On Boxing Day, you’ve got a lot of people trying to exchange stuff that they got for stuff they actually want. Can you say ‘upsell’? Can you say collateral impulse buying? Can you say there are 12 Days of Christmas (actual) that you can continue milking for seasonal profit?

But noooooooooooooooo!!!!!

The day after Christmas, the shelves are cleared of anything to do with the holiday at hand and all of the Valentine’s 💘 Day stuff is out. Are you fuckin’ kidding me? It’s beyond time to put an end to this bullshit.

Stop rushing everything!

Nobody can go anywhere anyway. Why can’t we just enjoy what we have instead of trying to jam a holiday that’s months away down your throat prematurely? Let’s enjoy now stuff now and then stuff then. Could we maybe do that?

Irresistible Urge

True art is characterized by an irresistible urge in the creative artist. ~Albert Einstein

Speaking of doing stuff, I’ve got a boatload of writing to get to. This year’s Holiday Season Serial Romance is proceeding apace but, again, I’m only scheduled up to today. I wanted to be farther along, but life continues to get in the way. The good news is that at least I haven’t missed a story deadline so far.

If I’m going to get that finished, I’ve got to get this finished. Working out a writing schedule is something I need to get going on. I can and will get the holiday story finished up on time. It’s working out to be a bit of a challenge but anything worth doing ought to be a challenge.

Fortunately, I’ve got resources like the video below to help me along the way. I love hearing from people who are actually doing it. If you’re interested in becoming a professional writer, you could do worse than to listen to people like Sarra Cannon, Chris Fox and Craig Martelle.

That’s enough for the day after Christmas. 👍🏻 I hope you’re having a lovely relaxing weekend, too.
