Weekend? What Weekend?

The only thing I get to be creative about this weekend is how the hell to catch up on all this work…

Nothing But Busy

He who knows that enough is enough will always have enough. ~Lao Tzu

VeggieTales: Busy Busy

Yeah, enough is enough. I need to tear through some of this backlog or I’m gonna be in the hurt locker like poor Larry the Cucumber.

This week just whizzed by with not a whole lot of progress made.

I did a ton of stuff but it didn’t amount to a hill of beans.

Needless to say, I’m a bit irritated about it.

So, I get to spend the weekend playing catch up.

Everything else goes on the back burner until I’ve got some of this stuff taken care of.

This Week In Supers

THE BOYS Season 3 Episode 5 Breakdown & Ending Explained | Review, Easter Eggs, Theories And More

All work and no play is well outside the scope of what I can manage these days.

I do what I can while I can.

When I no longer can, it’s time to veg out and catch up on some shows.

These programs had some interesting twists this week.

Despite being behind on things, my daily limit kicks in and I’m not up for much more than catching up on things before I hit the hay and get back at it.

Distribution Of Resources

Guilt: the gift that keeps on giving. ~Erma Bombeck

So, this comes back to that whole Work / Life balance deal.

There was a time when I could just crank away 21 hours a day to get something done.

I’m not 20-something anymore. I’m not even 30-something.

I’m old and tired.

I do what I can do while I can do it and then I call it a day.

Some days are more productive than others.

Some days, I can do work stuff and life stuff.

Some days, I just have to kick the can down the alley a bit.

The most important thing is being organized.

When I have a set list of things to accomplish in a day, I find that I get those done.

When I’ve got a huge pile of everything to accomplish  in a day, I find that I’m lucky to get anything done.

It also doesn’t help when I run into technical difficulties.

Be that as it may, things still need doing. Meetings still need to occur and I still need to demonstrate measurable progress.

That’s why I’m working this weekend.

Progress must progress.

The sooner some of this stuff gets done, the sooner I’ll have a bit of breathing room to deal with the rest of it.

Writing a Novel When You’re Too Busy to Write a Novel

As for the writing, I got a couple hundred more words in Chapter 8 but I think that I need to rethink what actually happens in Chapter 8. I’m getting bogged down in details that aren’t moving the story forward.

This is the hazard of pantsing what needs to be an intricately interwoven tale.

What tends to work for me in the Holiday Season Serial Romance is that I have a template.

I don’t have a template laid out for The Sentinels and I need to correct that.

And there’s another thing that needs doing and that needs to wait until I get done a bunch of other stuff.

That’s frustrating.

And the whole time, I’m also aware of the need to get my sites properly set up for marketing purposes, which is yet another thing that needs to wait until I get done a bunch of other stuff.

That’s also frustrating.

Man, I’m getting a headache…

That’s all for today. I’ve got tons to do and what’s left of the weekend to do it.
