Old Dogs
New year, new tricks. It’s past time to get this show on the road, so on with the resolutions.

Alright, so I have a responsive page design that I have reserved to templatize for use in future projects. The interesting thing about mobile responsive design is the relative simplicity of it.
By picking an array of screen sizes, you can control the behavior and appearance of your pages. I’m still working my way through it and seeing what I can do to make it boilerplate for upcoming projects.
How To Lose A Gut Without Busting Your Hump
Okay, while the Wise Men have come and gone a couple of days ago I happen to have had an epiphany.
Yoga!
I’ve got ribs that I thought were healed until I tried doing anything even halfway strenuous. Big surprise. Big painful surprise.
So, how do you burn calories without all the running amok? Yoga is the answer.
I remember seeing this video a while back.
Yeah, I’m sure he’s selling something, but there’s bound to be something to it.
I’m fairly sure that with my slowly healing physique the best way to roll is by employing yoga.
Got weighed at my final orthopedic visit today and I’m at 303.
❄️ Not ❄️ Cool ❄️
It’s not good for my health and I’m making it my mission this year to get rid of it for good.
In reality, with my frame and musculature, I think that getting back under 225 is unlikely but I’d like to find myself somewhere between 210 and 225 by Christmastime this year.
Of course, there’s the goal of performing a tornado kick and possibly even some form of scorpion kick this year. Presumably, these ribs will heal sufficiently to allow the twisting motion involved in a decent kick.
Glorious Play
The creation of something new is not accomplished by the intellect but by the play instinct acting from inner necessity. The creative mind plays with the objects it loves. ~Carl Jung
One of the things about being an INTP is that we love building things. Not bricks and wood and nails (although, I suppose some INTPs like that) but rather concepts. We like building procedures and concepts and imaginary worlds.
I, in particular, am a big fan of world building. Whether for fiction writing or for role-playing games, world building is a big part of making the story consistent. There’s a hazard of getting too wrapped up in it and never getting around to the tale, but there’s also a hazard in not doing it at all and having plot lines that go completely off the reservation.
I’ve been writing a couple of backstory narratives to get back into the groove. It’s also instructive because my creative process reveals details that I couldn’t plan deliberately. By having the characters interacting in a scene, they will ask and answer questions that simply won’t lend themselves to a planning sheet.
I have a variety of these historical snippets in a collection of notebooks in a bag somewhere in my bedroom. Archaeology will soon ensue. I need to dig those out again.
That’s the state of things this fine day. I hope you’re having an awesome day, too.
