Back from Britain
Yay! My beloved firstborn is back from the UK all safe and sound! We just picked her up from the airport last night and she had a really exciting trip.
In Britain
In Britain, girls seem to be either bright or attractive.
In America, that’s not the case. They’re both.
~John Cleese
This describes Emmeline to perfection. She’s cute as a button and a certifiable genius.
Along with her mad cognitive capacities goes a self-assured ferocity. She knows what’s right and won’t take crap from virtue signallers or any other variety of knucklehead. It’s hard to stand up for yourself these days. I’m so very proud of the person that she is.
Things didn’t go entirely as anticipated over on the other side of the pond but she was able to wring her own portion of happiness from the excursion. She got a lot of great pictures, met some lovely people and cats, brought home some souvenirs and enjoyed frequent trips to Nando’s.
Oh, The Pain
So, Kelly and I went to Newark to pick up Emmeline and her fellow traveler, Ally. We went in Emmeline’s car, a lovely green Honda Civic. Unfortunately, the acrobatics needed to descend into the driver’s seat was sufficient to put a hurt on me that I’m still feeling today.
I’ve learned that I definitely have some hearing loss and I’ll be seeing some specialists to see what (if anything) can be done to remedy that.
My legs got scanned for vein issues. I’ll be getting back in touch with Dr. Busch to see what he found out about the arbitrary and spontaneous swelling I’ve been experiencing.
Progress is progressing
I’ve had a couple of good nights of writing recently and I’m pushing through Deke’s weekend of protective custody.
I’ve got a number of tasks to accomplish on my prepper site in order to get it back up and running. Those ought to be done by the end of day today.
Getting a good night’s sleep with the aid of my CPAP has been a real benefit. Amazing how getting oxygen to your brain all night actually kickstarts the cognitive process! All the projects I had in mind before are now bubbling up again in my thoughts. I’ve got a way to go before I’m back at peak performance but at least I’m getting there.
We’re happy and blessed to have all of our munchkins back under one roof for the weekend. Hope you’re having a great time with your family, too.
