Boxing Up 2019

We’re rolling rapidly toward the end of the year and of the decade.

Second Day of Christmas

Okay, no matter what the schmucks in the marketing world would have you believe, Christmas is NOT over. Yes, they want to pack away all of the holiday-related stuff and break out the Valentine’s candy and bathing suits.

The truth isn’t on their side. Christmas has actually only just begun. The Twelve Days of Christmas begin on Christmas Day and end the day before Epiphany (January 6th). However, since mass media is generally fact-deprived, they redefine things however they choose.

Idiots.

We’re in the process of packing up the decade here. It’s been a particularly tumultuous decade for me. As such, I’m looking forward to the Twenties being a whole lot different and hopefully a lot better than this decade has been.

Of course, it’s a totally arbitrary enumeration. There are a number of different calendars around the world. Not only is 2020 not necessarily graven in stone but January 1st isn’t even New Years’ in the lunar calendar.

Then again, hope is pretty arbitrary. Hoping for things to be different without having the wherewithal to effect change is pretty spurious and somewhat magical thinking.

Oh well. Christmas is definitely the time for magical thinking. I will hope for positive change in the hope that it positively affects my ability to enact positive changes for the future.

I did indeed take my little holiday hiatus from writing. As previously mentioned, my characters are demanding to be heard. They were getting a bit muddled but now they’re fairly yelling out their tale.

Now that most of the holiday hubbub is done and over with, I can start beating keys again and resume recording the heroic deeds of the Sentinels of Empire City.

We’re zooming right on to New Year’s. See you there!
