Halfway To Christmas 2022

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. My super-surprise present for Kelly arrived just in time and I’ve got it all wrapped up for the big day. I love it when a plan comes together…

Reveal

Love may be or it may not, but where it is, it ought to reveal itself in its immensity. ~Honore de Balzac

I know it’s the middle of the week and I’m really busy at work and everything, but it’s always a good time to gush about how much I love my wife, Kelly.

She is the best part of me. I wouldn’t be who I am today without her in my life. Her presence is an ongoing, lifegiving miracle to me.

Christmastime is a season of miracles and all the more so since Kelly’s in it. Even as I type this, she’s frittering around our house, transforming it from our cozy little cottage into a holiday wonderland.

Honestly, I have no idea where she hides all this stuff all year, but it’s all popping up like a rabbit out of her hat.

That’s what she does.

She pulls joy and comfort and silliness from nowhere and spreads it around like sunshine. She is the glowing warmth of happiness that keeps me going, even when I don’t feel that I can.

So, I just wanted to take a few lines here to let you know how incredibly wonderful she is.

If you know her in person, you know this already. She’s a treat to everyone she meets, but she’s my special treasure. I’m blessed and happy to have her in my life.

Kelly makes it easy to live in gratitude, because I can see what I’m thankful for every time she comes into view, every time I hear her voice, every time she texts me with her incomprehensible misspellings.

She leaves happiness and beauty in her wake and I’m truly blessed to have had her in my life for over three decades. Here’s to three more and more besides.

Top Christian Christmas Worship Songs 2020 – Best Christmas Hymns 2020 Music – Christian Christmas✝️

We had dinner at the Blue Mountain Christian Retreat last night. The food was delicious and plentiful.

Afterwards, we were treated to their annual Christmas celebration. They had musicians, liturgical dance, sing-along and testimonials by some gentlemen from Pennsylvania  Adult and Teen Challenge, a men’s rehabilitation organization. The testimonials were moving and we wish the guys the best in overcoming their struggles.

As has been said plenty of times before, Jesus is the Reason for the Season. So, it’s only fair that so many of the well-known and beloved songs of Christmas are religious in nature and message.

We all like Santa, decorations, presents and holiday frivolities, but it’s not quite the same unless you take the opportunity to observe the spiritual side of the holiday season. As the guys who testified to their personal transformations would tell you, it’s only right to recognize the good that God has done.

I’m going to be honest. I never really liked the song, The Little Drummer Boy. There’s nothing inherently wrong with it. I’m fine with religious Christmas songs. It just didn’t really do it for me.

I liked the Rankin & Bass animation of the song even less. Being that I didn’t particularly like the song, I didn’t really want to see a show based on it. Also, as a kid, I was far more interested in Santa, elves and flying reindeer than I was in Bible-adjacent stories.

On review, as an adult, I actually came to enjoy this show.

This kid, like the guys who testified to their tribulations last night, goes through some seriously awful 💩.

Naturally, he becomes bitter and hates his fellow humans. He finds companionship with animals, but he’s bitterly antisocial.

As with so many since the 1st Century, his encounter with Jesus touches his heart and helps him to heal in ways that nothing else ever could.

Only the stop motion animators of Rankin & Bass could take a slightly annoying Christmas song and turn it into a touching tale of redemption and healing. Besides, Jose Ferer is in it. How can you go wrong with him in your cast? The guy is freaking awesome!

I Think About

I think about my work every minute of the day. ~Jeff Koons

Unfortunately, that’s about all I can do. Man, am I busy!

We got seriously slammed at work, so there’s more work than I have time to do any of it. We have a lot of new people coming on board, so Merry Christmas to that bit of good news.

In the meantime, I’m just barely keeping ahead of pace on Merry 🔔 Bells. Considering that I wanted the whole thing done before Thanksgiving, I’m lucky I’m as far along as I am.

Nevertheless, whenever I have a spare couple of cycles, I can’t help but come back to The Sentinels and Tales Of Olde Auringia.

As previously mentioned, the change in seasons makes my mind want to shift gears and focus more on Tales. Perhaps, since Meredith and Toby are such ardent Sentinels fans, that’s sort of maintaining the load balance between the two properties.

In either case, Merry 🔔 Bells is the project of the moment and that’s where my primary focus remains, which is a bit of a miracle in itself.

My brain leaps among projects and ideas like a flea on a hot brick. Maintaining focus is not my strong suit, so it’s good I have such a hard deadline on these episodes.

Unless I am entirely consumed with the task at hand, my mind is drawn to the plight of my overdue series. It can be a distraction when I’m supposed to be focused on something else, but these things are my intended destination.

The goal is to build some noteworthy brands, and generate a respectable income from them. So, it’s only natural that I’d give them as much time to brew as humanly possible.

I’m not getting any younger and as Michaelangelo said, “…clock’s tickin’, dude.

That’s it for a busy holiday Wednesday. I’ve got tons to do and no time to do it. I hope you’re enjoying some holiday hygge in your own lives, even as I race to catch up on a bunch of needful things.
