National Floral Design Day 2024

What would normally be the last day of February happens to be National Floral Design Day. I guess πŸ’ Spring 🌷 is coming after all.

🏑 Garden, πŸ’ Store or Museum πŸ–ΌοΈ

There are always flowers for those who want to see them. ~Henri Matisse

Well, we got an early dose of πŸ’ Spring 🌷 this week. The groundhog wasn’t kidding. Henri isn’t kidding, either.

As a miracle of modern life, flowers are literally anywhere you go, no how matter how ❄️ Wintry ❄️ it is.

In your pocket, you have the ability to pull up countless images of fabulous gardens all day, every day.

We have potted plants in our houses and ready-made bouquets at the grocery store.

Visiting your local museum is a great place to take in painted floral masterpieces.

You can even take up painting yourself and make flowers whenever you want.

If you like to do more than just look, actual flowers have their natural perfume.and bring a touch of nature to your dining table.

When the season or the climate is right, you might have a blooming flower garden of your own. If so, you can certainly make a bouquet, but…

Techniques To Become a Top Floral Designer

I don’t have an eye for this. I doubt I would even know where to begin. I know there’s baby’s breath and other random ferns, but I leave this sort of thing to professionals like πŸ‘†πŸ» that guy.

While I have no skill or aptitude for this field of endeavor, I certainly can appreciate it. There are such beautiful spaces around us. Longwood Gardens isn’t so far away, but with the changing of the seasons, I don’t even have to go that far.

I’m blessed to live in the midst of such beautiful, sweeping farmland. The natural beauty all around me is a spectacular floral arrangement for which I am genuinely grateful.

😹 Brickbat 😹

Writers write for one reason: to create an emotion in the reader, to reach across and make them feel something. You want a reaction. Yeah, it’s nicer when the reaction is to throw flowers than it is to throw brickbats, but you have to accept both equally. ~J. Michael Straczynski

πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ˜ΉπŸ˜‚πŸ€£ Brickbat? πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ˜ΉπŸ˜‚πŸ€£ Take a look at this video about a Golden Age “superhero” known as #711 and his adversary, Brickbat…

Golden Age “Super” Hero #711 – Comic Tropes (Episode 48)

I don’t know what George Brenner was into, but it seems like his coffee was laced with randomonium. It’s a great example of why some IP doesn’t stand the test of time. Maybe that’s what the VP is talking about when she carries on about the significance of the passage of time.

Babylon 5 – Five Seasons, One Story

As for Mr. Straczynski, I happen to like Babylon 5. He definitely poisoned the well with his crack about Star Trek not showing bathrooms. I boycotted the series for years and Kelly still won’t watch it, even though it features some of her favorite actors.

He may not have acquired J.K. Rowling levels of enmity, but he definitely pissed off a lot of Trekkies who would otherwise have been fanatic followers of his series.

Michael Jordan is often quoted as saying “Republicans buy sneakers, too” in the context of staying non-political. Frankly, that was viable in 1990, but nowadays everything is political.

Even the most innocent of commentary can and undoubtedly will trigger somebody these days. Problem is, I’m GenX. We famously give less than zero fucks for all the wokery.

I know there’s little to be gained by stoking the avid hatred of the frothing free-range nutjobs who have nothing better to do than harass people for having a contrary opinion.

What I also know is that there’s nothing to be gained by giving in to the woke mob. Hopefully, by the time I actually get The Sentinels published, peak wokeness will have come and gone and we can ride the roller coaster back down the hill toward something passing for “normal” again.

Patience is a virtue and it will take a while to save up for my batch of ISBN’s. If we crest the tide of peak wokeness in the meantime, so much the better.

Happy Last Hump Day In February. I hope you have an easy week and that πŸ’ Spring 🌷 is arriving wherever you are.
