National Meatball Day

Any day is a great day for meatballs but today is a holiday specifically for it.

That Kinda Day

So, today is not only National Meatball Day but it’s also National Crabmeat Day. That suggests to me that today is an awesome day for Crab Cakes (basically, a crab meatball, right?)!

As much as people have been posting memes against Punxsatawney Phil for incorrectly predicting an early Spring, we’re enjoying a lovely weekend and it’s only going to get better in the coming week.

We’re doing the Spring-Forward thing tonight. Whatever. It used to bother me to have Monday come an hour quicker but I’m not feeling it these days. Every day is a work day, so Monday is effectively irrelevant.

And pages to go before I sleep. Pages to go before I sleep.

Spoiler Alert

Nick Fury, as portrayed in the MCU by Samuel L. Jackson, is well-known as a badass MF with an eye-patch. Given his line of work and conspicuous badassery, one might suppose that he lost his missing eye in a feat of derring-do.

His white, flat-top wearing alter-ego lost his eyesight in his left eye in combat during WWII, so it stands to reason that a stone-cold badass like Samuel L. Jackson’s version would have also lost his eye in close combat with a Hydra kill squad or what have you.

Sadly, it seems not to be the case. I guess you can dress it up that the cat is an alien, but still. WTF?

Captain Marvel is drawing a lot of flack because the titular heroine is played by yet another super-entitled, loose-lipped Leftard. Go figure. Some are trolling it just because. Some are saying that it doesn’t bring much to the MCU as a quasi-prequel introduction of the deus ex machina character who will help to undo “The Snap“. Personally, I’ll have to go see it for myself.

Heroic Thoughts

I write to discover what I think. After all, the bars aren’t open that early.
~Daniel J. Boorstin

The eminent historian may do his writing too early to find an open bar as an alternative, but I do my writing late.

The weird thing about “pantsing” is that I’m not even aware I’m thinking about the things that are hitting the page. It literally is as if I am channeling the parallel universe where the Sentinels reside.

I’ve been transcribing my hand-written text. That’s something I hadn’t done previously. I have a lot of hand-written stories that I intended to type once I was done with them, but this time I’m transcribing as I go.

Since I’ve found my stride writing in the darkest hours, I’ve decided to put my daylight hours to good purpose. Transcribing the writing of the night before gives me a good idea of where the chapter breaks should occur. It will also provide an opportunity to edit that simply never happens in my hand-written tales.

The dastardly wizards who abducted Mary Christmas from her homeworld have made their appearance in Chapter 3. I might push them back into later chapters during editing but they’re in play at this point.

My wife will be home soon. Gotta see if I can sell her on the crab cakes for today. Probably not, so I’ll settle for regular meatballs if we still have some. It’s a lovely day for a special dinner. Hope you’re having a lovely day, too.
