Rolling Into August

August is that much closer to πŸ‚ Autumn πŸ‚, and that puts a smile on my face. So does the fact that I’m pretty close to finishing up a bunch of outstanding tasks.

Sometimes things get mired down.

Sometimes you have control of it and sometimes it just won’t go.

I’ve had a lot of that nonsense over the last couple of weeks.

Yet another reason for me to basically hate 🌞SummerπŸ”₯.

Naturally, the problems I’ve faced actually have nothing to do with 🌞SummerπŸ”₯, but it doesn’t make me enjoy the season anyway.

It can take a while to set things up for completion, but the dominoes are finally in line for relatively quick completion of the things that have been lingering in such an annoying way.

So, 🌞SummersπŸ”₯ nearly over and the long malaise will go away with it.

That’s certainly something to celebrate, so I am.

πŸ₯³ Yay! πŸŽ‰

It’s a small thing, but it’s better to be happy than beleaguered. I hope things will continue to slow down enough to commit to a writing schedule.

Either way, I’m prioritizing the writing from here forward. I’ll let you know how that’s working as we go along.

Something Else To Geek Out About

How Cheap Hydrogen Could Become the Next Clean Fuel

There’s been a bit too much attention given to EVs lately.

I’m sorry, but the technology simply isn’t there yet.

It’s certainly coming along, but there are a number of breakthroughs that need to occur before we can just ditch our gas engine cars for the transport of the future.

⏳ Future, yo… πŸ€–

In the meantime, we need to keep taking steps in the right direction and enjoying the incredible movies coming our way.

The one thing that comic book heroes are primarily known for is being squeaky clean.

Unless you maintain some standards of conduct, you risk sliding down into the moral ambiguity of the bad guys.

The big argument between Daredevil and Punisher in Season 2 of the Netflix series that’s finally available on Disney+ puts a fine point on it.Β Both of them make perfectly valid and irreconcilable points.

Daredevil is a classic hero. He believes that even the most evil of villains can see the light and desist from their despicable acts.

Punisher is a post-modern antihero. He’s a soldier on a self-appointed mission to put the bad guys down and keep them down. Dead men break no laws.

Daredevil sees Punisher as a bloodthirsty vigilante. Punisher sees Daredevil as a half-measure whose trust in law and order sees bad actors released back to the streets to cause harm again and again.

The Sentinels were formed with the intention of being more of a Golden or Silver Age team of completely above-board, classic heroes.

Lucky was a comic books enthusiast who sold his godfather on the idea of being a superhero.

Tim was a happy-go-lucky guy who mysteriously developed human torch powers.

When Lucky learned that his godfather had super powers, it occurred to him that there must be others. He kept his eye out for news of other people with powers. When Tim became active as Foxfire, Lucky sought him out and proposed the idea of forming a team like the Justice League or the Avengers.

They continued to search for other people with powers to join their team. One day, Mary Christmas turned up, but she wasn’t a hero. She was in pretty big trouble.

For quite some time, the team remained small. They did their best to inspire a new generation of heroes to join, but nobody did.

Little did they know, they had inspired a little girl to dedicate her life to becoming a superhero. She never told them because she didn’t have powers. She was afraid they’d reject her. She was afraid she’d get in over her head. She was afraid that she wasn’t enough.

We’ll see how it turns out for her as the book develops…

I’m pretty close to being done some stuff that’s been languishing since June. I’m going to go get that sorted out so I’ve got some more time to get back to the πŸ“š writing.
