Scaling The Hump

Hey! 🐪 Y’know what day it is? 🐫 It’s Hump Day, baby! We’re halfway through another action-packed week.

What’s Doing?

I couldn’t sleep well so I was listening to some training videos by Jay The Lazy Ass Stoner Wessman and Kam Fatz Jennings on how to do basic business setups. Naturally, I couldn’t sleep even more so I got up and DID SOMETHING PRODUCTIVE!

Haven’t done something that exciting in ages. I restored an abandoned brand so I could test the ideas I got from Kam and Jay. Installed everything and got HostGator tech support to whip me up an SSL certificate all before breakfast. Nerdlightenment is back online.

I’ve also begun work on Christmas Shopping All The Time, where I’ll be selling holiday doodads, apparel and so forth. When my serial story posts conclude after each Epiphany, the resulting novellas will be available in eReader and print-on-demand versions at this site.

Healing-wise, I’m still having some difficulty breathing and a fair amount of recurring pain across my chest. Hopefully, the prednisone will have the intended effect and resolve the costochondritis I’ve been suffering these past many, many months. I’ll be seeing the vascular specialist on the Fifth to review the ultrasound on my legs in detail and I’m getting fitted for hearing aids on the Tenth.

Undoing A Mess

Our tuxedo cat, Leif, got himself into a mess and it was up to Dorothy to clean him back up. Allan decided to capture the event on video for your enjoyment.

Creating Is Doing

Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Willing is not enough; we must do. ~Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

One of the hazards of being an INTP is that we tend to stay in our heads a lot. We design. We scheme. We construct phenomenal new worlds and wonders beyond imagining.

Typically, we keep it to ourselves. The I in INTP stands for Introvert.

When we took the Myers-Briggs test way back during premarital counseling with Fr. Bob and Deacon Hart, my result came back such that the I was fairly close to the center. I could have been an ENTP and sometimes cross the I/E barrier, but my basic nature is more introverted than extroverted.

For a lot of people, lack of action is due to a lack of confidence. That’s rarely the case for me. I’m usually more in the paralysis of analysis trap. It’s not even perfectionism, which can be a stumbling block for many.

For me, it’s the stitch in time saves nine or ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure perspective. I really hate having to backtrack. Racing blindly into a dark alley is fine if you’re being chased by a wild animal or a gang of muggers but it’s not great when you’re trying to do technical stuff. The further off track you go, the more costly it is to backtrack and do it right the second time around.

This can be frustrating to others because of my perceived lack of action but it’s really just refusing to commit to potentially counterproductive action. Some stuff literally cannot be done over. Once it’s done, it’s done and if you did it wrong, it sits there forever like an Easter Island head being both wrong and useless. Some stuff can be redone but what a PITFA! If we can just be patient and have a clue of what we’re actually attempting to do, it can get done expeditiously the first time.

That’s me being madly productive for the week. I hope your week is going just as well as mine.
