Year of the Metal Rat

It’s Lunar New Year today, so Chinese food is on the menu for later. The Year of the Rat also seems apropos for the sham impeachment that’s going on this week.

DemocRATs

The House Democrats have been presenting their case (poorly) for the last few days. If there’s anything like sanity in this world, the President’s defense team will be able to shoot down, in detail, each and every allegation in fairly short order.

Unfortunately, the Senate Democrats are just as hypocritical and disingenuous as the House Democrats. It’s something of a given that they will find the President guilty of the spurious charges no matter what the defense team presents.

Fortunately, the Senate has a Republican majority. Much of the hoo-ha from the House Democrats was that they wouldn’t get a “fair” trial in the Senate. Sadly, their definition of “fair” is that they must automatically win regardless of how slipshod their Articles of Impeachment are and how horrifyingly corrupt their impeachment inquiry was conducted.

I’m hoping that the President’s defense team will not only destroy the half-baked Articles of Impeachment but will also lead to a serious investigation of how the impeachment inquiry was conducted in the first place. The whole thing with the secret hearings in Schiff’s skiff is almost as alarming as the fact that the defense had absolutely no role or voice in the House’s deliberations.

That’s a tragedy for our republic. It would be nice to see the Potomac Two-Step be set aside for the Frog-March of Justice this time around. There are a lot of people doing a lot of unconscionable things in Washington over their panicked determination to undo the results of the 2016 election.

Hillary lost. Get over it. You are not permitted to impeach MY vote!

Virtuous Struggle

All art is a struggle to be, in a particular sort of way, virtuous. ~Iris Murdoch

Well, I don’t know if I’m being particularly virtuous but I’d like my superhero characters to be. I’ve been slogging through the viewpoint character style that I mentioned previously.

It’s reaping some interesting things but there will need to be some kind of editing. I’m still trying to direct my narrative to take on the woven quality that I admire in other authors’ work. Naturally, the viewpoint character style creates a bit of tunnel vision. Even tunnel vision allows for some overlap if the story being told is sufficiently rich.

The first two viewpoint characters are a young lady who has been on a lifelong mission to become a superhero and the pathetic burglar who tries to break into her family’s apartment.

The burglar finds out the hard way that the young lady has superpowers. His world will be quite confined because of it. Her viewpoint will be expanding as she takes deliberate steps to act on her newfound powers and join the Sentinels.

That’s it for the weekend. I have lots of writing to do. I hope you’re enjoying the Lunar New Year in your own way.
