Bacon Day 2023

I’m surprised to find this so late in the year, but better late than never. It’s Bacon 🥓 Day!

Amazing

I think we love bacon because it has all the qualities of an amazing sensory experience. When we cook it, the sizzling sound is so appetizing, the aroma is maddening, the crunch of the texture is so gratifying and the taste delivers every time. ~Alex Guarnaschelli

Nothing says breakfast like the scent and sound of sizzling bacon. I prefer mine wobbly.

Some people like to cook it so it shatters like glass. I suppose that makes it convenient for making homemade bacon bits, but it doesn’t work for me.

Whether it’s sharing a plate with scrambled eggs and home fries or adorning a cheeseburger, I’ll have mine with a texture more like meat and less like Pringles.

I think Bacon Day is a splendid way to round out the year.

With all the nonsense going on, it’s a relief to have something as simple as bacon to focus on.

It’s been a long, arduous year. Wrapping it in bacon almost makes it all worthwhile.

🥓 Makin’ Bacon!!! 🥓

Goodbye / Hello

It’s time to say goodbye, but I think goodbyes are sad and I’d much rather say hello. Hello to a new adventure. ~Ernie Harwell

I was really hoping to have been done with Carol’s Christmas by now, but life gets in the way.

Be that as it may, it’s a holiday weekend and I’ve finally discharged enough of my day job duties to be in the right frame of mind to get back into writing mode.

Naturally, that’s a good thing. I’ve only gotten it written up to today’s episode. Didn’t help that I got a killer cold on Thursday.

So, I slept a lot on Thursday. Worked a lot on Friday and I get to write a lot this weekend. Jeez.

See you next year.
