Thank You, Veterans

To all those who, like me, have served our country; maximum respect. Thank you for your service and God bless.

Stand Your Ground

Today’s mighty oak is just yesterday’s nut, that held its ground. ~David Icke

You don’t have to join the service to be a hero, but it helps. There’s nothing like basic military training to help develop a bit of grit.

Even so, there are plenty of people who wouldn’t even consider joining a branch of the military who are heroes all the same. The thing that really matters is having a sense of responsibility to yourself and your community.

There are a lot of things in life where you can choose from a dozen or more perfectly valid options. There are some things where right and wrong actually apply. Some things are absolutely wrong and we need to stand our ground.

Going along to get along is fine in casual conversation but it’s spineless in matters of principle. Joe Average in the street and Mr. Smith who went to Washington need to stand fast and do what’s right instead of following the trend or surrendering to peer pressure. Some things are just wrong. Don’t cave to the pressure.

Still Counting Y’All…

Lenny Kravitz – It Ain’t Over Til It’s Over (Official Music Video)

It’s not cool for the media to be referring to Joe Biden as President-Elect. The media does not decide elections, voters do. Unless the incumbent concedes or the Electoral College convenes and makes the vote official, it ain’t over.

Put your “Eagles Jacket” back on, Joe, and wait your turn…

Why Not Both?

The best thing commercially, which is the worst artistically, by and large, is the most successful. ~Orson Welles

That may be true in a general sense but I hope to be the exception to the rule. I don’t expect to win any Nobel Prizes for Literature but I like to think my stories will have some artistic merit.

I don’t believe you have to compromise artistic integrity in order to succeed commercially. In order to make a profit, you have to provide some value.

I guess you could just chase trends and pump out a pile of drivel to make a quick buck. Some people do. I don’t intend to be one of them.

I think it’s possible to be able to be both profitable and meaningful. I believe that in order to maintain a fan base, you need to be delivering something that people want with a splash of what they need.

People need to feel. People need to be challenged. People need to have some sense of hope.

Good guys need to win. Bad guys need to receive their comeuppance.

The world needs to make some kind of sense even if it’s a totally imaginary world. If not, why bother?

Had a long day and it’s time to turn in. I hope your Hump Day was as productive as mine.
